Twisted Fork Bistro– Girl’s night is always the best way to end a hectic week.  I was ready for a calorie feast Friday night so we ended up at Twisted Fork Bistro. The place is tiny and they do not take reservations so we headed there straight after work. Although it was early the bistro was already packed and smelling delicious.

bread with whipped butter

I can not begin to describe how good this butter was. It tasted freshly whipped and light. It tasted delicious with the warm bread.

Fresh Mussels with Frites

The frites was a mixture of sweet and gold potatoes. The cream sauce was very rich and creamy. I prefer more sauce like mussels from Salade De Fruits.

OneHundredDays— There has been a lot of hype for this place so I was very excited to celebrate a close friend’s birthday there last weekend. The place is filled with funky graffiti and dim lighting giving it a very unique feel. 100 Days is a pop up restaurant located at the Opus hotel in Yaletown. The place is very fresh and unconventional. A great place for a fun evening, drinks and laughs.

Mojitos are my favs and this one from 100 days was delicious. Just the right amount of mint and lime.

Tropika– My friend recently brought 2 groupons for Tropika @ $15 for $30 worth of food. The groupons expired at the beginning of February but the manager was nice enough to still accept it. *woohoo* There was a few of us that night and we decided to order a bunch of different things and shared.

A huge, delicious ChiChi for 2! Two of my friends shared and finished this huge drink.

Stir-fried Radish Cakes. Very flavorful but a little mushy for me.

A few of us brought Groupons to TBC go-karting a while back and decided to go racing this weekend. Haven’t been for years. They even updated their safety video! TBC has a great in door go-karting facility that is designed for all levels.  A fun activity to do with friends and for corporate gatherings.

The go-karts are quite fast and speedier than I remembered.  The race course has a few sharp turns and drifting is a definite for an exhilarating rush.

I managed to achieve second to last place! LoL! I felt that I was going fast but I guess not fast enough.

And what better way to celebrate my second last place? Eat! We headed over to Aberdeen’s food court for a quick snack before our dinner reservations. Mazazu Crepe caught my attention immediately with their large selection and delicious display of crepes!

It took a while for me to make my decision but I finally did. Introducing my strawberry, cheesecake crepe filled with strawberries, cheesecake, whipped cream and a hint of blueberry! I also wanted ice-cream but they were out for the day.  The filling was delicious, the crepe is a bit different than the texture from Cafe Crepe . A little sweeter and chewier.  I highly recommend this place for crepe lovers like me=)

I was given a cooking class certificate for two from mayhen.ca for Thai House (thanks for such a thoughtful gift!)
Thai house offer 4 different classes each containing 4 different dishes. I registered for class 1 with Thai spring rolls, Tom Yum Soup, Papaya Salad and Thai yellow chicken curry. The class was very well organized and everything was prepared, measured and set up for us. The instructors were patient, attentive and provided a lot of knowledge regarding the food and the techniques to prepare a traditional Thai meal. They showed us the exact ingredients needed and showed us the same methods used at the restaurant.  Everything was made from scratch and was very fresh. I highly recommend this cooking class for anyone who enjoys Thai food and a hands on experience. A certificate and all the recipes were also prepared in a booklet to take home.  I have been to a few cooking class and I would have to say this was one was one of the best ones.

All the ingredients measured and prepared.

With our aprons on, we are ready!
