During my trip in Asia, eating was on the very top of the list for me. I love trying new cuisines and tasting different flavours especially in a new environment where foods can taste so different. The first stop was in Seoul, Korea where kimchi was served almost every meal, then off to Beijing – the home of Peking Duck, then I made my way down China through Fuzhou where seafood is so fresh. Did late night dim sum in Guangzhou then finally to Hong Kong where there is an abundance of hybrid cuisines. Here are some highlights below!

Feastro the rolling bistro–downtown Vancouver

Crab & Shrimp Cake

feastro the rolling bistro– located in downtown across the Olympic Torch and the Convention Centre.

There is always a line up during the lunch time rush and the wait can be longer than expected. However, it’s definitely worth the wait. Their menu offers a large selection (one of the largest I think in Vancouver). Ingredients are fresh with some very unique items.

Crab & Shrimp Cake – cayenne, coriander, sweet bell peppers, on Henry Reed organic greens, with truck made smoked tomato cocktail sauce. $13

The crab and shrimp cake is very large and it comes top of a salad. Great for sharing and a good dish if you enjoy regular crab cakes.

Fish & Chips – Local Red Snapper

The Fish & Chips – Local Red Snapper with pomme frites, with truck made tartar sauce, Pacific Rim slaw. $12

The slaw was very refreshing and the batter on the fish was good. Not oily and the snapper tasted fresh.

Piroshky Piroshky- 1908 Pike Place

Russian hand-held stuffed pies with sweet or salty fillings. The line up to this place was huge. You can see them making it as you wait in line.

Below: Smoked Mozzarella Cheese, Broccoli and Mushroom. The Piroshky is quite big and very filling. I could only eat half. The Beef and Cheese really enticed me as I waited in line. Will be trying that one next time!

Roast Pork with Gravy

I’m in love with Nico’s Pier 38 near Chinatown in Honolulu! The place is located right in Pier 38 and everything is so delicious and fresh! The portions are huge and the prices are great! We loved it so much, we went there a second time for lunch.

Above is the Roast Pork with gravy and it comes with rice, and macaroni salad. $8.15

Fried Ahi Belly

This was divine! Perfectly fried, topped with a great tomato salsa and comes with rice and a mixed green salad. $9.80

Catch of the Day

This was the Catch of the Day. A fresh fish patty with a cream sauce. $9.00

And of course I lose the picture of my favourite dish of all times! The Pan Seared Ahi Tuna w/ ginger and cilantro sauce! I had the Ahi cooked medium rare and it was perfect. Rare inside and perfectly seared on the outside. It was like eating a huge tuna sashimi with a delicious sauce. The second time we came for lunch we each ordered our own Ahi steak. We just loved it that much!

Malasadas

So many people have raved about the Leonard’s Malasadas, so I knew I had to try it! And I am so glad that I did! The Malasadas is like a doughnut without a hole. You can get it plain, with sugar and with custard. The dough is very soft and its fluffy. I loved the ones filled with custard. I couldn’t help myself and had 2.5.

Went for happy hour last week with May, who decided on Rodney’s Oyster House in Yaletown. We started off with one of their chowder soups. Creamy and not too thick. Just the right amount of flavor. Just what I wanted on a cold rainy afternoon.

Mussels :steamed in dill butter, garlic and wine. The mussels were the smaller ones. Sweet and fresh. Loved the dill butter!

Well hello Pan Fried Oysters and Scallop Galette (potato encrusted) accompanied with their tartar and plum sauce. Both delicious and so filling. At the end of it we still had 6 pan fried oysters to pack.

Will definitely be back for more after work fun! Can’t wait to try the fresh oysters next time. Looked so fresh and juicy!

The Crab Pot—It was Easter long weekend, so I took a short trip down to Seattle. It was a great idea cause I really needed a change of scenery.

We didn’t arrive to downtown Seattle until 7:00pm and we were starving! There were 2 choices that contemplated us. It was either The Cheesecake Factory or The Crab Pot. We have been to both restaurants a few times but decided on The Crab Pot cause we wanted seafood.

When we arrived at 7:30 ish, there was a HUGE line up. I wasn’t too shocked since it was prime time and The Crab Pot is such a fun place. We quickly added our name to the list and was told that it was an hour wait.  Even though we were starving, we decided to wait cause we were craving it at this point. To kill time, we grabbed a Clam Chowder from a grab and go vendor next door (which I think is owned by Crab Pot) and checked out the Pirate gift shop and the Pier Arcade.

The hour flew by and it was time…for our seafood feast!

Why is The Crab Pot so special and fun?? Cause you eat from the table, with your hands and a bib!

The main seller and attraction of Crab Pot is their Crab Pot SeaFeast. There are 4 different types to choose from which ranges from $15.95-$34.95/per person, depending on the seafood you want. I would say the most popular one is the WestPort which includes: Dungeness Crab, Snow Crab, Shrimp, Clams, Mussles and more.

The SeaFeast is literally served on the table in front of you with all the necessary utensils needed to devour such a feast. The servers even bib you up! Can eating get anymore fun??

The flavour of the seafood was great, however the shrimp wasn’t as fresh as it could be and a bit dry. Overall, the SeaFeast was super fun!

The Crab Pot is definitely a great place for family and friends. It is full of fun eats. A must try in Seattle.
