I heard many good things about Skillet Diner and decided to go for brunch on a recent trip to Seattle. The line up was out the door by the time I arrived and the place was fully packed. Luckily, it didn’t take too long for us to get seats at the bar. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Very relax and laid back feel.

The Cinnamon Bun is a weekend special. If you like cinnamon buns then this is definitely a must. The two of us could only eat half. Wasn’t too sweet and just the right amount of cinnamon. Really enjoyed it.

I knew I wanted to get this right when I read the menu. How can it get any better? I had the choice of fried chicken or pork belly and I decided to go for the pork since I’ve had fried chicken waffles before. The pork was very tender and juicy. The sauce was great with the waffle and maple syrup. It would have been a bit better if the portion of the pork was a bit bigger ( me so greedy )This was the daily scramble of the day. It was good but nothing special. There are definitely other more unique items to try on the menu but overall a satisfying dish.

Can’t wait to come back and try their popular Grilled Peanut Butter and Jam with Fries! Great place to go anytime of the day.

During my trip in Asia, eating was on the very top of the list for me. I love trying new cuisines and tasting different flavours especially in a new environment where foods can taste so different. The first stop was in Seoul, Korea where kimchi was served almost every meal, then off to Beijing – the home of Peking Duck, then I made my way down China through Fuzhou where seafood is so fresh. Did late night dim sum in Guangzhou then finally to Hong Kong where there is an abundance of hybrid cuisines. Here are some highlights below!

so different yet so similar…..<3!

Had a lovely tea time with the family for Mother’s Day. The scones and mini croissant sandwiches were definitely the  stars of the afternoon. Warm scones with whipped butter and strawberry jam makes me giddy….

On Sunday morning, dodo had a lovely surprise for me by her bed before our walk…a HMD card (hmm..i wonder who wrote it for her??) Thank you to you both <3!

new addiction...honey apple butter

Say hello to my new addiction….honey apple butter from Traders Joe. I have been dipping, drizzling, sipping on this the whole weekend. Surprisingly more apples than honey and butter in this jar of goodness. Wished I had it for my scones at high tea.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend celebrating, eating and of course loving your moms!

Sugar Bun from Giovane Cafe: sugared sweet bun filled with vanilla pastry cream. May acquainted me with this delicious, sugary, vanilla, melt in your mouth goody last week and now I can’t stop thinking about it. The best $4 I have ever spent…..<3!

Happy Birthday to Mable Lo! We had a nice dinner @ Italian Kitchen on Saturday night. Food was great as always. This cake from Sweet Obsession was so chocolate mousse-licious. Layers of hazelnut and chocolate mouse topped with meringue. Tasted like a huge Ferrero Rocher!

Half man Half horse. A very impressive performance on Granville Street.

Found the cutest steamed buns @ TnT! 4 for $3.48! How could I resist? Took me a while to eat Ms. Piggy =( The buns were actually very tasty with very unique fillings.

A few of us brought Groupons to TBC go-karting a while back and decided to go racing this weekend. Haven’t been for years. They even updated their safety video! TBC has a great in door go-karting facility that is designed for all levels.  A fun activity to do with friends and for corporate gatherings.

The go-karts are quite fast and speedier than I remembered.  The race course has a few sharp turns and drifting is a definite for an exhilarating rush.

I managed to achieve second to last place! LoL! I felt that I was going fast but I guess not fast enough.

And what better way to celebrate my second last place? Eat! We headed over to Aberdeen’s food court for a quick snack before our dinner reservations. Mazazu Crepe caught my attention immediately with their large selection and delicious display of crepes!

It took a while for me to make my decision but I finally did. Introducing my strawberry, cheesecake crepe filled with strawberries, cheesecake, whipped cream and a hint of blueberry! I also wanted ice-cream but they were out for the day.  The filling was delicious, the crepe is a bit different than the texture from Cafe Crepe . A little sweeter and chewier.  I highly recommend this place for crepe lovers like me=)

Cheesecake Factory–One of my favorite restaurants. I love the large selection(the menu is literally 20 pages!), the atmosphere, the free bread and of course the cheesecakes!! Every time I’m in the States I will always stop by the nearest Cheesecake Factory for dinner. The portions are always so satisfying and I usually do not even finish half of my entrees.

Alth0ugh the Seattle location is quite large there is always a long wait for dinner and a line up for Cheesecake take outs. However Cheesecake Factory is definitely worth the wait for my tummy!

Breaded Chicken with Prosciutto topped with an arugula  salad on top of a creamy pesto pasta! This is what I ordered and Yes it was huge! The chicken was breaded perfectly and the prosciutto added a great saltiness to the dish. The cream sauce was a little overwhelming however was great for bread dipping!

Society- Located in the heart of Yaletown lives the Society Dining Lounge. The establishment is apart of the Glowbal Group with a chain of great restaurants. I have been to all of them and had a high expectation for Society.  The main concept for the restaurant is comfort food with a twist.

I recently attended a birthday celebration there and had the chance to indulge in a few different goodies.

cotton candy drink

The drinks at Society is definitely fun. There are delicious milkshakes that range from spiked to non-alcoholic. If it wasn’t so late in the day I would have absolutely tried one! The Cotton Candy drink was very unique however I found it a bit too sweet.

Pissaladière Pizza

This pizza was very delicious. It is a thin crust with caramelized onions, goat’s cheese, black olive tapenade, roasted red peppers. Tasted very fresh!

Baked Lasagna

kobe meat sauce, tomato fondue, roasted peppers, herbed ricotta. It sounded delicious on the menu however it tasted very ordinary. Definitely had better else where.

(This is when the night took over and I wasn’t able to take pictures =(..sorry!) We also tried the Mac n Cheese Balls  which was Mac n Cheese deep fried with jalapeno, white cheddar. The first few bites were great however the jalapeno was a little over powering and couldn’t taste anything else.

For dessert we were given the dessert platter aka The junk food platter filled with cotton candy, caramel popcorn, doughnut holes, cupcakes, cookies, rice crispy, Oreo milk shake. It was a very fun plate with lots of yummy treats. This was the highlight of the night. The platter has everything needed to satisfy any sweet tooth. It is a must try I would say!

Society is a great place to lounge and enjoy some of you old favorites however not a place to truly indulge in great cuisine.
