Took a quick family trip to Asia for Chinese New Years…and still currently missing this.

Until next year!

Did a turducken for Thanksgiving this year. I pre-ordered from Big Lou’s Butcher Shop in Gastown. A turkey stuffed with a chicken then a duck then pork sausage. Sounds amazing right? I know!

I came up with my own marinade. Which consist of honey, soy sauce, lots of minced garlic, oyster sauce and hoisin sauce. I baked it at 375 for approximate 3 hours and basted every 30 mins. The Turducken was super moist especially with the duck fat. All the boys loved it. Personally, I thought it was weird to have all the different meats stuck together like that. If you like meat then this is an A+

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I took off for a quick 4 day trip to San Francisco with my family. Days were filled with sunshine, good eats, sightseeing and lots of wind. It was a much-needed time away after weeks and weeks of planning and coordinating last-minute details for my big day. Felt so good to leave everything behind and just enjoy ourselves exploring another city.

Apologies for this much delayed post. June has been a hectic month but a great one =) Things have started to settle down but with moving ahead I hope to post more as soon as I get the chance. During busy moments I never really get to soak it all in, so it’s always good to look back and revisit those moments.

At the end of May, a handful of my really good girlfriends took me on my first experience to The Big Apple (can’t believe it’s been a month!). We did lots of eating, shopping, sightseeing and walked for miles. Enjoyed every moment of it and can’t wait till I return. (Thanks girls!). A bit of an intro of what we devoured over….more elaborate details to come.

Had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday with family and friends. It really couldn’t have been anymore enjoyable. Spent time feasting, exchanging secret santa gifts, cooking up a storm in the kitchen (literally), movie watching and of course just spending quality time with the ones that have made my year so special. To top it all, we celebrated our anniversary with a quick trip to Seattle and Bellevue. I hope everyone had a loving holiday as mine.

During my trip in Asia, eating was on the very top of the list for me. I love trying new cuisines and tasting different flavours especially in a new environment where foods can taste so different. The first stop was in Seoul, Korea where kimchi was served almost every meal, then off to Beijing – the home of Peking Duck, then I made my way down China through Fuzhou where seafood is so fresh. Did late night dim sum in Guangzhou then finally to Hong Kong where there is an abundance of hybrid cuisines. Here are some highlights below!
